Liturgical Music Workshop

Realizing the need for increased education in leading Catholic Contemporary worship, John Flynn has put together a hands on workshop for those involved in ministering at Contemporary Masses and para-liturgical services. The workshop is available as a 4 hour presentation and covers everything from beginning a new worship team to putting new fire and professionalism into an existing one. All participants will walk away with an increased sense of purpose and understanding of their mission as music ministers, a better view of the overall picture and purpose of Catholic worship and tons of resources and ideas covering topics like song selection and writing, sound set-up and trouble-shooting, understanding the litugical seasons, rehearsing a band, dealing with paid musicians vs. volunteers, styles of leadership and techniques for engaging the people, and more.

The workshop is available for up to 30 people. Because of the hands-on nature of the presentation, if you have more than 30 people John can do two workshops in same day (morning and afternoon.) John has been leading worship for over ten years and has worked with NCYC, LifeTeen, Steubenville, Youth 2000 and many other notable programs and ministries. Your musicians will walk away from a workshop with John feeling inspired and ready to take their ministry to the next level.

The workshop is also available as a private workshop for one parish. If this option is selected then the second half of the workshop is geared as a "rehearsal" with the parish worship band. John will help the band by assisting and tweaking current ways of doing things, offering suggestions and feedback for improvement and generally enable the band to achieve a higher level of quality ministry. Topics actively covered in this part are live sound set-up, developing the "voice" of the band, arrangements, dynamics, leading, rehearsing effectively and organized spontaneity.
